We care for your feet!

People with diabetes are more likely to develop problems with their feet, including foot ulcers, infections, and in the worst cases, amputation.

Foot checks are one of the eight key treatments that NEEDS patients receive as part of their annual review.

Last year, we redesigned this service to improve the level of care that we are able to offer to patients.

Over 5,000 patients have been discharged and no longer need regular foot checks.

This has allowed local clinicians to offer more appointments to those who are at higher risk and in need of more urgent care.

Before the changes, all patients had to wait between 14-15 weeks for a routine appointment.

In July this year, 100% of high-risk patients were seen within four weeks and 96% of moderate-risk patients were seen within  eight weeks.

This new approach was recently shortlisted for the prevention and early diagnosis category at the Quality In Care Awards, which recognise excellence in diabetes care.
