The North East Essex Diabetes Service (NEEDS) has teamed up with Diabetes UK to recruit people with Type 2 diabetes in North East Essex as part of a new project called ‘Type 2 Together’. The project is being rolled out across the UK and aims to support people with Type 2 diabetes better manage their condition.
The first stage of the project is to recruit and train 50 volunteer Type 2 Together facilitators in North East Essex who will be trained by Diabetes UK on how to deliver information on a range of topics to participants in small local based groups.
Julie Smith, Operations Director at the Suffolk GP Federation who deliver the NEEDS service, says: “We’re really pleased to be working with Diabetes UK on this pioneering project and hope that lots of people living with Type 2 diabetes in North East Essex will sign-up and get involved.”
