Medication supply issues
The NEEDS team will aim to communicate via social media and where necessary contact patients directly to update regarding confirmed diabetes medication supply issues.
However if you are having supply issues with your insulin or diabetes supplies, very often this could be a pharmacy warehouse delay. It is best to tray and contact the supplying company to begin with, who can then confirm if there are any true shortages. Usually the issue can be resolved by the pharmacy changing their ordering processes and the company can communicate with your pharmacy directly if required.
In the case of urgent supply issues all GP surgeries have access to local guidance around alternative diabetes medications to use if required. It is advisable to keep at least 1 months supply of diabetes medications at all times, but not advisable to ‘stock pile’ beyond this.
