Supporting people living with diabetes in North East Essex

Welcome to the North East Essex Diabetes Service (NEEDS)

We are here to support all of those living with diabetes in the North East Essex area and are committed to providing high standards of care for ALL patients. Working in partnership with NHS GPs, our consultant-led diabetes specialist team offers inpatient, community clinics and foot care.  We support and promote eye screening which is delivered by Health Intelligence.  We work closely with Therapy for You for emotional and psychological support. Our regular forums offer a chance to connect with diabetes health professionals and other diabetes patients. We provide diabetes education for patients, health professionals and actively participate in research.

We are here to help you live a full life with diabetes.

Education for patients

North East Essex Diabetes Service offers Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes education courses such as DAFNE and DESMOND in a variety of community settings and times. Courses can be taken when you are diagnosed, or at any time through your diabetes journey. The courses run for different lengths of time and our education secretaries will help ensure you choose the correct course which meets your own needs and booked at a convenient.  Over 90% of people who attend one of our education courses improve their knowledge on diabetes and enjoy the course. Our courses are fun, informative and current.
